In 1970, Johan Janssen and Egmund Klei were among the six musicians who made up Virgin Sacrifice, the band in which they played together for the first time. This pop band played any music the audience wanted to hear, such as songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Marley, The Hollies, Steelers Wheel - in short, the popular music of the time.
They did not even shy away from the carnival repertoire, ranging from André van Duin's Sambaballen samba to favourites from Surinam, the country of their roots. Virgin Sacrifice performed in the Netherlands and Germany and had a fabulous time they will never forget. In this band, Johan played the bass. Egmund played the guitar and the organ and they did the backing vocals as well. They even made a record, for which the lyrics and music were written by Egmund. Better still, they even sold several hundreds of copies - not bad for a beginning.

The 5-man formation New Strings was founded in 1980. As Johan and Egmund had the better voices and also wanted to sing solo, they decided to dissolve the band and continued as the 4-man formation Strings. Before long, a saxophone player was added, thus opening up the possibility of playing Soul, Funk and Motown. This was to become the basis of their soul today.
At first, singing and playing was not always easy, but after one year they carried the audience with them. They still performed mainly in the Netherlands and Germany and occasionally took the ferry to England. In those days, investing in equipment and transport was their first goal. A fine group of friends that loved to play music - nothing commercial - the band was locally well-known in the Zaanstreek region.
Little by little, the musicians got to know other musicians and styles. Egmund decided to call it quits and wanted to resume and complete his studies of electronics. In 1995, Johan and Egmund joined forces again: the Parttime Band was formed. With this band, also focused on Soul, Funk and Motown, they performed in the same countries as had their previous bands.

Three years later, they decided to change their image. The band took on a new name as well: Soulconference. What started as a club of friends, gradually grew into a 10-man formation and became big business. The band set higher standards, so much so that they were likened to professionals. Their sound was perfect, they moved on to higher-quality equipment and also business-wise they adopted a professional approach. Highlight in that time was unquestionably the performance in the curtain-raiser of the legendary Tower or Power from the United States. Their genre and performance area, the Netherlands and Germany, remained the same, though.
In 2002, Johan Janssen decided to go alone and left Soulconference. Within a year, Egmund Klei followed suit. Today, they go through musical life as SoulBrothers.
SoulBrothers, the front men of the afore-mentioned bands, are currently playing in discotheques, at company parties and once in a while at wedding parties with music from the eighties - the heyday of Soul: Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, Wilson Picket, Eddie Floyd, James Brown, the Four Tops. Music from a later period - Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool and the Gang, the O'Jays - is in their repertoire as well.

Names which have proven their strength in performance and repertory! Now you can live through this by performances of men with more than 25 years of personal experience in this kind of music. Very strong as a duo, but the opportunity to perform with a band is present, and could be realized on request.
Keep an eye on these men! Constantly working with the newest equipment on audio territory and also with the best sound engineers of The Netherlands!
Quality as quality should be, especially on your event of party!
